Sustainability assessment is an important first step on the path towards sustainable development. Ecosystems and Biodiversity
Contrary to widespread purely economic valuation techniques, we are offering a novel approach, based on multi-criteria assessment, which was tested during our work with IUCN and focuses on more accurate treatment of ecosystem services: provisioning services (water, food, fibre, genetic resources, fuel, wind, hydro, tidal, geothermal energy); regulating services (biogeochemical cycling of Carbon, Phosphorous, Nitrogen, etc), soil formation, photosynthesis, primary production, pollination, water cycling, air quality regulation, water purification and waste treatment and social or cultural services (cultural diversity, knowledge systems, educational values, social relations, spiritual and religious values, inspiration, aesthetic values, and sense of place). We will help your organization to map the value of ecosystems surrounding the sites of your operations to identify ecologically vulnerable areas, threats, and conservation opportunities.
Using our own interdisciplinary urban sustainability methodology tested on London and St Petersburg we will conduct a comprehensive sustainability assessment of your city drawing on world’s best practices. Drawing on our considerable modelling expertise we will help your region or a company to set up a successful sustainable waste management system. Analysing the system strategically, we will combine improvements in the system’s spatial layout to minimize costs and environmental impacts with selecting the best set of recycling technologies for a given composition of the waste stream and an optimal investment plan.
